We kicked off the soccer season with a weekend tournament.
Hannah and Will's teams played in 12 mini-games over 2 days
on some polo fields west of the city.

Oh, and it was our 17th anniversary!
Soccer cheering together all day and a fun dinner out that night made for a great celebration.

First Day of School

Today was our first day of school and marked the beginning of our 6th year of homeschooling. 3rd, 5th, and 7th this year....
I am dying at how old my kids look in these pictures.

And this was just five short years ago!? Slow it down, people!

It's been some time since I've been in this space. To be honest, long stretches of this past year I didn't even pick up the my camera. I didn't want to share our life here, but instead sought to draw my dear ones close and hunker down. It was just that kind of year. Sadness, stress, and days on our knees is what I will remember. And that my sweet Savior walked through those deep valleys with me... with all of us... drawing us closer to Him and to each other.

Spring ended with us having to say goodbye to my beautiful, godly, and full-of-spunk mother-in-law.
Alzheimer's made her last years on earth pretty rough, but she danced and laughed through most of it... just like always. Then cancer took her from us. That woman knew how to live life and she lived it with great joy right to the very end.
Oh she is so missed.

Then there was summer. It was lovely; a balm for soul.
Spectacular skies and that sweet smelling air filled our days.
And rest. Oh blessed rest.

my sweet father-in-law

We swam and swam and swam.... well, they did. I timed and sat mostly.

"Gangster" themed swim meet. This is as gangster as we can get.

Look at that cute timer.
The Gospel Coalition Women's Conference in Orlando with my mom and some fantastic ladies from church.
Family gathered at the lake for the 4th of July.

And blackberries.
Cheering on the Nationals!

Fun in Linden along the Appalachian Trail.
VBS at church
Visiting Mema and Grandpa's house in Florida.

Summer is too short!

More Blossoms... and our End of Year Celebration for Classical Conversations

As I busily prepared for our last week of CC,
I managed to check on the cherry blossoms one more time.

Every single street in a nearby neighborhood is this lovely, but on a warm, peak-bloom, Sunday afternoon there is NO way to get a photo without gobs of cars and people. I do my best.

It always takes my breath away to see the blossoms bursting out of the tree.

Making the cherry blossom experience even more beautiful is the pale pink petal confetti that swirls through the air and piles up in gutters. There could not be a more magical way to welcome spring!

Walking home we spotted the first tulips in bloom.

Because of snow days (it seemed to always snow on Tuesdays!), our last day of CC got pushed to the same day of our big End of Year Celebration. Funny to note: it SNOWED that night - April 15th. I'm telling you - it's a Tuesday thing. Anyway, it was a wonderful culmination of a fabulous first year of CC!

Here are most of the boys from my class. I had a class of all boys and loved every minute of it.

The whole crew.

The Memory Masters receiving their awards.
I am so proud of Hannah! She worked very hard and rocked it her first year!

This face says "a full table of desserts and my mom wasn't looking."

Dad got to come up and see where we go every Tuesday.

One of the sweet boys in my class.

Can't wait 'til it all starts again!
